One lane of the eastbound Newark Bay-Hudson County Extension of the Turnpike will be closed for bridge deck repairs this weekend

A lane of the eastbound Newark Bay-Hudson County Extension of the New Jersey Turnpike will be closed this weekend for isolated bridge deck replacement, resurfacing, and miscellaneous other repairs.

Only one lane will get by from west of the Vincent R. Casciano Jr. Bridge over Newark Bay to east of Interchange 14 A from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.

The Turnpike Authority awarded a $138.8 million contract to Schiavone Construction Co. in 2019 for structural repairs on the Newark Bay-Hudson County Extension. This work is being done under that contract. Construction started in 2019 and is scheduled to be completed next year.

Drivers who are planning to travel on the Extension this weekend are encouraged to check traffic conditions first by calling 511 from a hands-free device or downloading the SafeTripNJ app. Live traffic camera views are available under the Travel Tools tab on this website.
